2023 in Pisticci…struggling with a gardenia, but pleased with my sewing……

There were 2 jobs I needed to do today.

I wanted to practice painting a gardenia .

So I picked one from my garden and set to work.

Hours later and I eventually painted over it and drew it again. I’m not specially happy with it now, but I think I understand the shapes and how to put them together.

Ready to begin.
Work in progress
Not happy!
Still not happy , but the petals mostly make sense now
Tomorrow , if I have time will paint a sparrow, a ladybird( how difficult can that be!) and some butterflies.

However, the further work on my stripey dungarees went well. The sleeves made very satisfactory pockets. May have to upgrade these to ” evening in the house wear”.

David Hockney’s book of portraits is preventing me sewing the back to the front and the clips are keeping the material tight.
Front view with patch and rose painting.
Was tricky getting a back view, but I think the 2 big pockets work well. ( probably better I don’t put anything in them)

I have been inspired to have a go at being a bit inventive with clothes thanks to my sister. She makes mostly children’s clothes out of pre used material of all types . (She sews them properly with a machine. ) And can be found at Sopeggy on Instagram.

It’s been a lovely sunny day again. Tomorrow afternoon I should be back to mural painting where I may be painting gardenias. And maybe poppies and a sunflower.

Now it’s blissful to sit elegantly draped over my yellow velvet armchair wearing my beautifully adapted dungarees and enjoying the breeze blowing in the door. And if my bites would stop itching life would be perfect.

However wine makes most things perfect.

Cheers🍷🍷
