And it went well.
I started work about 7.30am.
First job was to mix up up a suitable undercoat. That became purple. ( I have a lot of purple paint)

It didn’t take very long for the purple paint to dry and then I mixed up some terracotta. My plastic carrot boxes were useful for this.
After the first coat of terracotta it was obvious that a second one would be needed.
Not being a very patient person I decided I needed a distraction to pass the time till the paint was dry.
So I looked for a video on youtube about painting bricks. The bricks surrounding the alcove were never very good.
I found a 5 minute video and thought that I could do that. I used a sponge for the bricks, painted thick grey lines for mortar, and then thinner lines for shadows and highlights. I think it took me about half an hour to upgrade my bricks.
Then I did another coat of terracotta.

I’m very happy with the result. It looks as if it’s always been like that. And now I feel confident to paint bricks which I’ve always struggled with before.
There was just time to draw properly my next big commission and update my work diary.
So altogether, a satisfactory Sunday.
Cheers 🍷🍷
Vlog and wine time now.
