2023 in Pisticci…Sunday painting

Most of today I’ve been painting. But it’s been for myself.

I’m liking Sunday paintings where I don’t have to paint something commercial.

( not that I wouldn’t sell a Sunday painting.)

It’s a treat to paint something just for fun.

I took a photo of my little blue chair earlier this week as I loved the way the sunshine was hitting it and the shadow it cast. It’s a really pretty little chair in my opinion. And I love painting shadows.

This was the photo.

I thought it would be a challenge…..but then it wouldn’t be fun if it was too easy.

This is the result.

I had a square canvas so I adapted the photo to fit. (There was no way I could have painted it from life as the light didn’t last.)

The colours in real life are a bit more subtle as I used thin layers of paint to make it as interesting as possible.

Then I put it in a frame as a mark of respect. It’s only stuck in with masking tape, but it’s nice to see how it could look.

Nice old antique frame James gave me.

As I am stocked up on wine and carrots there was no need to do anything else today and apart from admiring my new red flower I just painted.

The photo does not do it justice.

As I got organised for wine time I thought how fortunate I am to have a cool room to be in. It might be ” baltic” in the winter, but right now it’s very nice.

Cheers🍷🍷
