I was woken up this morning by loud bangs and singing. I’d forgotten it was the 1st of August.

When I rushed outside there were more people than usual up in Terrevecchia and along by the Arches. This year they were singing. Some of them had probably been up all night.

This was followed by a brass band playing cheerful music. They’ll be playing the whole day all around Pisticci.

There is a video of both the singing and fireworks as well as the band playing on my twitter feed. I don’t know how to download them onto my blog.

I needed catfood and salt as well as some glue and paper from the Meet Market.

I actually bought a little spade and a fork for my garden. I’ve used a scraper as shovel for the last 10 years. And I bought some plastic tablecloth material. As well as glue….couldn’t find the type of paper I wanted.

Now my workroom has clean covers on the table and cupboard and there was enough to use on my other desk when I need it.

The old cover perfectly fits half of the table in the gallery. I am enjoying organising.

I found 2 old paintings which I liked , but the backs were very scruffy. So I found some black paper and using my new glue I upgraded them. ( couldn’t resist changing a few things in the paintings too. )

And then my tattoos arrived with the postman.( I was never going to get a real one. I haven’t even got my ears pierced as that would hurt. )

I had ordered them in the hope that it might jazz up my arms. I am trying to accept aging gracefully…… but my house is full of paintings etc distracting from peeling paint and cracks etc…..so I reckoned I could apply the same reasoning to my arms.

I feel very smug. My son called me ” badass”.

Sometimes I think I’m very shallow…..

I thought flowers were more suitable for the ” elderly”.

Plan to go out for pizza tonight to celebrate August.
