2023 in Pisticci…one more procession…….

Then there is a big concert tomorrow evening, but tonight the religious part of the feste finishes.

Today is San Vito’s day. And it ends with a large beautifully decorated carriage pulled by horses processing round the streets and finally stopping at piazza San Rocco.

Sitting in the carriage will be people who have won the auction to ride in it. This might have cost them upwards of €8000.

Last night I took a walk uptown which was packed with cheerful people. After covid , being in a crowd is a luxury and much appreciated. ( summer in Pisticci has always been relatively covid free.)

The streets were so crowded that it was difficult to move.

There is more than €24000 stuck on the base of San Rocco.
Some careful maneuvering needed to get San Rocco in and out of the church
A collection of priests at the front of the procession.

I decided to find a quiet way home.

Space!!!

Today I’ve mostly read as I’m tired. Last night there were 2 lots of fireworks. The second lot went off about 1am .

Tomorrow my plan is to prepare to start work on Monday. So I have a wall to paint white.

Next week I should be mural painting, portrait drawing and I have another commission.

But now it’s wine time.

I need to go out later to take some photos for my next commission and I’m hoping to combine that with seeing part of the procession.

Cheers 🍷🍷🥱
