This morning I got started on the difficult portrait before 9am. It seems to help if I don’t do anything else,but concentrate on painting.

By 11.30am I’d made a fairly good job of eyes, nose and mouth ( including teeth) .

I thought that would do for today. It takes a lot of concentration.

So theoretically I could finish the face tomorrow. Not counting all the little adjustments which I’ll probably make over the next week. If I get the background done on Friday that would be good.

This portrait and the art lessons together have given me an idea for a project.

I’d like to draw something portrait related in a sketchbook every day with the intention of learning more about the shape of heads.

As I should be away for 3 weeks altogether up until mid November a little easily managed project would keep me going.

I’m started. I like this sketch pad with the brown paper.

Other than hanging out the washing today I wasn’t out much so I went off up the pink brick road for a short walk.

Now I’m tired. A glass of wine and something on Netflix will be nice.
