After two slow days I felt energetic this morning.
I’d been thinking about making some big canvases ……….
So I got started….
As my wood was two and a half metres long I decided to make square stretchers 120x 120cms and then there would be very little waste. ( some artistic decisions are just practical. ) I couldn’t believe that I got every one just right. ( 12 cuts with a saw.) I don’t much like sawing. Glued and stapled and left for glue to dry. Cutting off the odd bit of canvas. Will make stretchers to fit that another day. One done, one to go. A whole bunch of small practice pieces.
And in the meantime while I was waiting , and because my jumper fell down the side of the cupboard, I found a framed, decorated mirror and decided to make it paintable. Being very cautious with a Stanley knife ( having had 5 stitches my thumb previously is apt to remind me to be careful), I scraped all the decoration off and painted the mirror.
First coat and then put it out in the sunshine to dry before I did a second more orange layer.
And finally…….
2 large canvases, a framed mirror and the painting I painted over yesterday are all ready to use.
After that I couldn’t think of anything to paint so watched 2 of my favourite vloggers .
