2024 in Pisticci…more boat painting and misadventure with glass…..

This morning I was thinking about what it took me to get started in the morning.

The thing about living by myself is that my thoughts are quite loud.

Most of the time they are quite helpful and sometimes make me laugh.

Anyways, to get started this morning I required 2 ginseng coffees, a poached egg with cheese, 2 squares of chocolate, a peanut butter sandwich…..and finally I got going…….

I had another look at one of the paintings I did from Sapri and decided what was missing was purple.

This may have been inspired by watching a video on Tonalists.

( I’ve finally found a breakfast book to read. It should arrive on Monday and is about Tonalists.)

Back to purple. Sometimes I just know.

Now the street has purple, some of the shadows and the grayish wall. I think it looks much friendlier.

I was easily distracted today.

I started work on the boat painting and then decided that I could wait no longer to check out my food situation. I slightly overdid stockpiling during and after covid.

I spent some time checking sell by dates and was relieved that most of it was still eatable.

There were several jars of jam past their sell by date. I thought that I could pour them down the sink as they weren’t lumpy. But I couldn’t get the tops off. So I had to boil the kettle to help. 2 are still stuck. 1 I dropped in the sink and it smashed. Finally I got the others open and was swishing the water away  when my finger found a piece of glass. So much blood. The dish towel is now soaking in the shower room, I had to wipe bloodstains off the cooker, the cupboard, the floor and the sink. It was a tiny cut, but I think maybe because I take aspirin daily maybe I bleed more.

So, back to work.

I got further than I expected. That is I redrew everything  more carefully and then painted a first layer. It’s  looking very hopeful.

I really like the boat shadow at the front.

I found a 20 hour audio book by Ian Rankin full of short stories about Rebus. Am enjoying painting and listening.

As I didn’t go anywhere today I stuck my head out and took a photo including my newly pink chairs which are definitely  cheerful on a grey day.

I doubt that my solar lights would get much charge today.

Wine time now.

Cheers🍷🍷
