2024 in Pisticci…..this artist’s way……

I’ve been up since 5am so that I could be sitting outside with a coffee when the fireworks began at 6am.

Coffee and camera
Lots of young people up by the castle also waiting for the fireworks.

It was a great start to August. And then there was a brass band.

I went out shopping later and had coffee with some friends on the way. What a lovely morning.

However, on with the arty bit now.

During a sleepless period in the night it occurred  to me that instead of painting the  scene of Oliveto lucano again I could merely stick it on a large sheet of paper and paint flowers around it. That would give me a reasonable idea of what the completed painting would look like. It’s a commission/gift so it has to have flowers.

So step 1.

Found a sheet of acrylic paper. Stuck little landscape painting on it and painted around it.

Next.

Drew lots of flowers with a white acrylic pen.

Had lunch.

Then…..

Went a little crazy with flowers.

Had a little siesta. Decided I didn’t like the purple flowers.

Better.

Had another siesta…..well actually I was reading and it was a very exciting bit.

Still not happy….

Finally got rid of the blue flowers and then decided there were too many yellow flowers too.

Now I like it. When I paint the final version I’ll likely change some things ,but the client likes it  so I can go ahead next week.

I used to think that I should get it ” right” the first time or I wasn’t  a proper artist. Happily I don’t feel like that any more.

Wine time now.

Happy August.

Cheers🍷🍷
