2024 in Pisticci….my house is looking so clean and tidy…..

I was expecting visitors so in the last 2 weeks I’ve cleaned the armchairs, touched up and varnished the shower room floor, bought bleach and managed to get the kitchen sink nearly white, washed the floors and painted various pieces of furniture…..oh and dusted. ( I do enough housework to make an unobservant person think that my house is tidy normally.)

I forgot about the windows in the doors…..maybe next year.

It’s quite a nice feeling though.

Apart from having visitors from Oliveto Lucano who collected my latest 2 paintings I haven’t done very much today.

The gesso, I  was expecting arrived today, along with acrylic inks so I thought that I’d do a little experiment  in several sketchbooks.

I had to do a page at a time and wait for it to dry as I wanted both sides of 2 pages done. It looked quite crinkly .
This is my cheap big sketchbook. On the left is normal paper. On the right is the gessoed one. There are the new acrylic inks waiting to be used.
It was interesting to paint on both surfaces. The gessoed one is better.  It didn’t soak through and the brush moved easier
Finally by putting heavy books on top the  gessoed paper in the sketchbooks is now flat.

I have lots of things to experiment  with when I get back from Scotland.

It’s pizza night again and I’m hoping to buy a bus ticket to Matera at the cafe by the bus station on the way.

And I’ve a portrait  to deliver.

But for now I’m going to have a small glass of wine and relax before I need to decide what to wear. It looks like it might rain.

Cheers 🍷🍷

Will it rain or not………..
