I reached the 80% point with my latest painting by lunch time today.
That, so doesn’t sound very arty and more like something a painting machine might say.
Strangely, I had a painterly experience this morning as I watched a Sandi Hester video about values.
After about 25 years of painting I realised that value in art means dark and light. ( at least I think it does.)
I’m a bit snippy about jargon , having been subjected to quite a lot of it in a negative way earlier in life.
Though I can see that it is easier and quicker to say ” spanner ” rather than “that metal thingy with a cut out bit on the end for turning screws and stuff.”
I’m also quite snippy about being told that there is a ” right ” way to do something.
So I stopped watching before I could start to think I’d been doing everything wrong for years.
I still have never deliberately created a centre of interest in a painting or directed anyone’s eyes all around. It might have happened, but as I don’t actually know what it exactly is…..it would have been tricky.
However today’s painting was kind of interesting to me as it more or less turned into something quite unexpected. I’m not sure if it’s okay or not……I think I like it……

Fluffy has just looked in the window again. That’s the 4th time today. She always wants stroked , before she goes to eat. Nice …..
Having finished one painting I did a first coat on the next two.

Doing a first coat or layer of paint is good for giving me an idea if it works as a composition.
By this time I was tired and had a seat outside.

I haven’t sat outside since I’ve been back.
Maybe I’ll have breakfast there tomorrow.
Now it’s wine time and perhaps a paracetamol. ( Only 2 today.) And more Midsomer Murders.
Cheers🍷🍷
