2024 in Pisticci….on to the next thing…..

I had a lovely start to the day. Right now getting up around 5am doesn’t seem like a hardship.

It was a beautiful  morning.

View across  the valley.

I’ve been treating myself to an arty video on youtube after breakfast and today I found a new episode of Portrait Artist of the Year.  There were some wonderful portraits today. The artist who only used a pencil , but whose portrait made the sitter tearful when she saw herself must’ve been so happy. That is such a compliment.

I wasn’t sure what I was going  to do today so I started by going to the supermarket.

Found these trousers when I was tidying out yesterday. I think my son had a similar pair when he was about three.
The church has just reopened after 10 years of being repaired.
Looking back at the piazza San rocco.

My next project is to paint a view of Pisticci on a piece of wood which will have hooks screwed into it and keys hung on them.

I thought that I’d paint it with my new favourite  thing…….Gesso…..and while it was drying I gessoed several  more pages of 4 sketchbooks.

Gessoeing pages in sketchbooks and then lying them on the floor in the sunshine to dry is a very pleasant way to pass the time.

It took me about an hour and a half to draw the scene on the piece of wood. Then I sprayed it with hairspray.  I like the smell…..and it works to fix the drawing.

It was good to feel relaxed .

After lunch I gessoed a few more sketchbook pages and then painted the sky, closely followed by the church and by then it was about 4pm.

And now it’s  wine time.

Cheers🍷🍷
