2024 in Pisticci….an arty day……

There was a beautiful  sunrise to begin the day.

Worth rushing outside to photograph

Then I got to work on four little ” gift” paintings.

It was very satisfying using my own paintings as reference. ( the big paintings were all painted as practice for murals. )
Ready to varnish now.

Possibly  the most important thing that happened today was that a video by Nathaniel Drew interviewing Martiin Doolard popped up on youtube. ( I may have spelled Martiin’s name wrong) I’ve been watching as Martiin worked on restoring his houses up a mountain in the North of Italy for about two years now. I love his attitude  to life.

After  watching the video I felt ready to get on with work and life.

Next I adjusted the portrait a bit more.

Then my new stretchers were delivered a week earlier than expected.

Wow!!! So simple.
15 minutes work and much better quality than I can make.

That was definitely  a good idea. If I’m ever hard up again I know I can make stretched canvases…..but this is so easy!!

Then the cheerful postman delivered the black gesso.

So I gessoed some sketchbook pages.
Then I used water soluble oil pastels to copy one of my paintings done in acrylic.

That was fun. Thanks Sandi Hester.  Another interesting idea.

And finally, also inspired by Sandi Hester , I took my tiny sketchpad outside and spent 5mins drawing strawberry plants. Assuming that I was bound to fail so there was no stress. ( it’s an artist thing.)

It was quite good fun….maybe I should buy another tiny sketchbook. I bought this by accident as I don’t really understand  centimetres.

And now it’s  wine time. Hurray!

And nearly the weekend.

Cheers🍷🍷
