It was market day in Pisticci.
Even though it’s not a very big one, there are still enough stalls to make it worthwhile.
It’s a place to meet people.
And to enjoy the atmosphere.

I found a couple of pairs of cheap trousers, which with a little adjusting will probably be part of my painting outfit this winter.
Then on my way back into town I met an artist friend and we had a proper conversation about art and how we had been getting on. About the art competition I missed, about getting motivated and more. All in Italian. Sometimes it seems I can speak more Italian than I think I can.
In town I had a ticket to buy and also get more wine.
After which I met another artist friend and talked more art…in English this time. That was fun.
Back home I like to think that I would have done more if I hadn’t got so interested in a book by Val McDermid called ” Past Lying” that I felt I just had to finish it. Strangely, the scariest bit about it was that it was set during the first lockdown in Scotland and although I was in Italy at the time where I felt relatively safe, my family were all in Scotland. I even got a bit tearful when one of the characters, not a main one, died. It reminded me just how scary and sad that whole time was.
I did make 8 new little gift canvases.

I’m tired again tonight. Tomorrow I’d like to have a painting day. I’ve put one of my new big canvases up on my easel. That’s progress. And the portrait has gone to its new home.
Cheers 🍷🍷
