2024 in Bergamo .. a whole lot of walking went on…..

I have nearly walked double the number of steps which someone somewhere decided that I should do. I’m not too hung up on completing this amount.  (…or the other day when I achieved 50 I would have been distraught.  I left my phone upstairs so it barely moved.)

Today I managed nearly 12000 and a lot of them were uphill.

I begun the day by looking for the bus stop for the airport bus in completely  the wrong direction.

I have never been to Bergamo before.

However after returning to my apartment and looking at Google maps I felt more informed.

As I came out of the gate a bus passed at the top of the street. That was a very good clue. Then I asked a girl at the bus stop and she pointed at a bus approaching with “aeroporto” written on it. Now I just need to check that my ticket is the right kind.

Next I followed the old city wall for quite a long time. I hadn’t seen it on the map ,but it looked pretty.

Lovely view despite not being a very clear day.
Up the hill……
Somebody had fun trimming the ivy.
Looking over the lower city

I decided to risk exploring the old city and wandered around for a while before finding my way out again.

Very fancy church
Rather like the stripes and checks
The busiest street
Cute tourist bus.

It was much nicer walking down hill again.

Then I realised I’d no food or wine so walked on past where I’m staying and after quite a lot more walking I found some shops selling food.

Near where I’m staying.
Interesting old church. It looks like water flowing down .
Local wine and things called, I think, arancini. One is full of spinach and mozzarella and the other is full of vegetables.
I sat on the balcony and ate half an arancino.

After all that I fell asleep.

Deciding that it would be good to paint something, I discounted all the photos I’d taken and painted the tulips which were in a vase on the table.

Using paintart app.

The view from my doorway is gorgeous.

I’ve always wanted to see what it felt like to stay in a building like this.

I can see a large colourful ferris wheel in the distance out of the window, but it’s too far away to visit.

Now I think I’ll try some of the local wine . Looking forward to getting home tomorrow.

Cheers🍷🍷
