It’s been another lovely day. The train to Edinburgh went via the Fife coast and then over the old red railway bridge.

I’ve not visited Edinburgh for several years.
It was great to have a walk around the Portrait gallery. I enjoyed the more modern ( date not style) paintings.
The coffee shop wasn’t open so we went to wetherspoons for lunch.
It was in a gorgeous old building and we sat in a room that felt like a library from an old Agatha Christie film.
After a while and some quorn nuggets, I noticed that some people at tables nearby were drawing or painting. And then they all congregated round one table and presumably looked at each others work.
It all looked so friendly and arty.
So I went over to ask if they were an art club and they were the Edinburgh Urban Sketchers.
If I could manage the logistics I could join with them now and then while I’m in Scotland. I’m going to see what I can manage.

Wine time now. It’s been a long day, but I’m still smiling. A few years ago I would have stayed in my seat and not spoken to any unknown artists. I’ve hardly ever sketched from life and never in a group. It could be a real adventure.
Cheers🍷🍷
