2025 in Perth…”to sleep perchance to dream” …….

That was written on a wonderful wrought iron bed I used to own. It would have been nice if it was a magic bed and and once I got into it I’d fall asleep and have lovely dreams.

It was not so.

And for the last several weeks it has been “not so.”

I wake up about 12am and then can’t get back to sleep. And as everything seems so much worse in the middle of the night I worry about my eyes, not sleeping, being tired, not doing enough work, life…..everything.

I’ve given up on the slightly creepy sleep stories and gone onto listening to “Campion” audiobooks. It helps a bit, but it must be wonderful to go to bed and and know that you have time off  until the next morning and you’re not writing and making plans at 3am.

However I’m not getting bombed by Russians and probably everything will be OK.  So I’ll talk about Katy now.

The bodybuilding competition is on Sunday, but it’s only a demonstration of the results of about 6 months of eating a very particular diet and exercising lots of times a week.

It’s the second time she has done it. The first was when she was 40  and now she’s  45.

I’m excited for her.

I spent several hours working on the last round painting. There is hope…..

The colours are looking better. I’ve changed out my wet palette as the paint was about 3 weeks old . Maybe fresh paint will help.

I found some photos from Summer 2024. It was the first time I went to Oliveto Lucano. I was also in Meta di Sorrento  on holiday with Katy.

Oliveto.
A drawing, I later painted.
A gift for my lovely host

I found this photo of me and loved it. There is still a part of me who’s a shy 5 year old and can’t believe that I do all this stuff.

In Meta di Sorrento

And some other work I did in between being  on holiday.

I was pleased with this portrait.
I like the colours in this
I thought this made a great painting as well as a portrait.

I’m looking forward to a glass of wine after another beautiful sunny day in Perth.

Cheers🍷🍷
