2025 in Pisticci  ….pretty morning…

I got up this morning looking forward to a quiet day of portrait painting

It was lovely outside about 6am.

Sun shining in the valley.
Coffee and a breeze.

Then I had pizza for breakfast.

Why not……

Eventually I started work and roughly drew two portraits.

Then I spent the rest of the morning working on one and wondering why it was that it felt as if I’d never painted a portrait before.

I also need some more very small brushes. I like to paint the eyes first with quite a lot of detail and then the rest of the face . The problem is that small brushes are easily ruined. I managed to find one in a drawer and ordered another three online.

Then when I stopped for lunch I noticed that the canvas board I was working on had a round indentation in the corner.

So after lunch I started again on another board. I’ve learned over the years that it is quicker and better to begin again than to try and fix or ignore something. Luckily I had several more canvas boards the same size.

But am not very happy with my progress so far. After the paintings I’ve been doing for the exhibition it’s not so easy to go back to a more restrained style.

I’ve organised for the gas man to deliver a bombola tomorrow.

No word from the plumber. I’m managing perfectly well, but no doubt I will eventually get fed up and make some more effort to get some help.

Next week , on Tuesday, my weather app says it will be 44C!!!

Most of the time I can keep my house cool enough. I’m glad I bought the portable aircon last year.

Someone is coming round tonight to collect a painting.

Now I think I might watch some videos on painting portraits and drink some wine.

Cheers🍷🍷
