After a rubbishy night’s sleep I got up to see this.

It wasn’t the best start to my mural painting adventure.
However I’ve often managed with very little sleep.
So wearing an old tee-shirt with the sleeves cut off and my oldest baggy trousers I was as ready as I could be.
What a lovely time I had. Perhaps all my stressing and prepping worked.
I stuck masking tape around the edges and then painted on two coats of gesso. ( I wonder if I was putting off the moment of starting to draw….or maybe I’m just putting more value on preparation than I used to.)

It’s the first time I’ve worked from an actual painting. Usually I just have photos.
It was surprisingly easy to draw everything and I carried on and have painted the first layer on the sky and the hills.
I forgot to take a photo.
After working pretty much non stop from 9am I stopped about 1pm and had lunch with the family I’m working for. That was lovely.
The best bit about today was feeling like I was young again.( My idea of young was being in my 60s when I first painted murals!) I enjoyed working hard and apart from a slightly aching arm it was a lot of fun. I was well organised and had everything I needed so far.
Tomorrow may or may not go as well, but today was just beautiful and I feel very fortunate to be able to do this.
I’ve also sold the painting I’m using as reference.
Some days are just special.
Cheers 🍷🍷
