2025 in Pisticci….becoming a better portrait painter….

I stayed for lunch today at the olive mill. It was a very friendly, happy international affair. Lots of chat and laughter in Italian. Good food,  ( must learn to eat spaghetti properly. ) wine and camomile grappa.

After several nights of disturbed sleep I was pretty tired and happy to listen and look. I realised that I would have loved to have painted the scene with all the people there. There’s something special about portraits that isn’t there with photos.

All being well, I could have a busy winter if I add improving my portrait painting to the list of things l’d like to do.

The mural is coming along. I’m taking the weekend off so that I can prepare for a whole week of painting it….and maybe get in some more olive leaf painting practice.

Painted first layer on the trees.
Getting organised and comfortable to paint the little girl.
I need to shorten her chin, but apart from that she looks fine. I’ll need to put something in her hands I think.
Brightened the old man up the ladder by giving him a yellow jacket. .
Work so far.

Next week I’ll need to get on with painting the foliage and then adjusting the background.

I’ve got the go ahead to use this as reference for the next one.

I took the paper off, that was covering part of it and I think all of it will still make a decent painting.

I still feel the need to paint another olive tree for practice.

But for now I want a glass of wine and to watch Victoria Colemans vlog. She always makes laugh.

Cheers🍷🍷
