2025 in Pisticci….confidently wrong….

I’m now finished both murals at the olive mill.

Today I painted the foliage on the second one. It’s not right. I don’t understand how to portray the structure and depth. Trees are not a subject I’ve been interested in. I’ve mostly made a sort of impressionist mess which looked okay, but this time I was asked to paint leaves. It shouldn’t have been impossible. I did my best and I’m pleased with the final result. But it’s still not right.

After trying out some ideas last night I decided what I needed to take with me today was confidence. I think it nearly worked as at least I wasn’t very hesitant.

( I’m planning to paint another olive tree this weekend in any style I chose as I don’t like to be beaten.)

I enjoyed painting this today.

This is the brave part as it looks a mess and is impossible to cover up.
First layer of leaves…phew, at least it’s working so far.
I think there are at least 6 colours on the leaves. But the shapes are wrong.
However as a painting it looks okay and the client is satisfied.

I like the colours and the composition  of both murals.  It’s been fun to do something different.

I need to take off the masking tape and apply two coats of varnish. They look very bright and cheerful. I’m really very pleased with them.

Now I need to get on with stopping my house falling down. More on that another day.

However it’s the weekend and I want to paint another olive tree and then put the 4 paintings on Facebook on Sunday night.

Next week I hope to get my paintings back from San Mauro Forte.

And I have commissions to chose from.

Wine time now. Hurray it’s Friday!

Cheers 🍷🍷
