This morning I spent some time cruising on a cargo ship with Matt and Julia.
Then it was time to go to the prize giving for the area/ rione Christmas decorations.

I had expected it to be brief, except for speeches, but in fact it was very entertaining and not at all boring.
The Befana arrived in a snowstorm.

There were lots of prizes and clapping and a children’s entertainer brought it to a close.

I got a certificate and a cabbage on a stick for helping to judge.
I walked down the corso holding them and feeling a bit silly, (and proud) …..but where could I have put them?

Just had 5 visitors looking at paintings and organising work. I felt a bit underdressed, with my old hat and scruffy thick orange jumper which has now stretched until it reaches my knees. My trousers were respectable.
However I feel very lucky that people drop in and bring their friends. ( and chocolates.)
I was worried that they’d get black gesso on their clothes so I moved my canvases out of the way a bit and got a big black patch on my jumper.

I’m going out tonight to the church in Piazza San Rocco to hear a friend singing in a choir. I’ve never been in this particular church.
Now I think that a small glass of wine would be nice before I go out. (I hope there aren’t too many speeches)
Cheers 🍷🍷
