Now it’s November in Pisticci….the colourful morning…..

I am really enjoying breakfast on the doorstep when my plan is to enjoy the morning, the peace and the view….all without my phone by my side.

Today I found myself looking at the sky and wondering how I would paint the effect of a slight mist covering the mountains. It was as if the hills were disappearing out of view.

On a sunny morning it is always very colourful. Bright blue skies, navy hills, yellow valley and various shades of green in the foreground, as well as the terracotta of the little house.,the greens getting more vivid as they are closer and ending with my painted white flowerpot with a big bright yellow and orange sunflower.

The light here is fantastic. I choose that word in particular as ordinary things become quite beautiful and well defined in the mornings and the evenings. Photographs don’t do it justice.

And this morning I appreciated it again.

So much so that I wrote about it in my ” sort of” diary and was rather pleased with myself.

After that it was a lovely morning for a stroll up town to see what “orange ” Pisticci looked like.

It was more or less the same except that bars and restaurants are only doing carry outs now.

I was on a mission to buy nice wine as the supermarket kind is ok , but I thought that it would be cheering to buy some from a local winery. I found some . Hurray! .That is part of my plan to make the next 5 or 6 months better.

I don’t seem to have done much else today other than watch some videos on Cezanne and Van Gogh. Oh, and I found an online version of a book festival where I could register to watch or listen to some of the speakers. That is happening over the weekend.

And now it’s wine time again. I haven’t lit the stove yet…..maybe later.

My particularly colourful space

  1. I would love to see that landscape painting you described, so impeccably colorful and bold. VanGough is a real favorite of mine too.
