2026 in Pisticci….sketching on a wall…..

Starting a mural/ wall painting is always quite stressful as no matter how prepared I am the reality  is not the same as any practice paintings I’ve done.

It’s inevitable that some things will need changed due to unforeseen circumstances.

Then I’m generally a bit nervous painting on a wall . It’s not like a canvas where I can just get another one if I make a mess of the first one.

So I begin very tentatively  and make a rough sketch. I’m well aware this does not inspire confidence in anyone watching. But it’s  important to make any big changes at the beginning. So with a mixture of trepidation on my part and possibly on the part of the person whose wall is being covered with a rather rough sketch I get to work.

I should say at this point that I am working for two very nice people who may well have more faith in me than I do and kept me warm, fed ,coffeed and offered me lunch.

By the time I left I had more or less a plan and could see how it would work. It’s a bit different from my original painting, but a mural/wall painting is always a collaborative effort.

Making a rough sketch with paint and putting things in place.
A rough start.

I enjoyed walking home.

Lovely blue sky
My favourite view
I like taking photos including washing.

Once back home I tried using my paintart app to give me some ideas where I might add things.

Then after watching a YouTube video on glazing I had fun painting three small bunches of grapes.

That was fun. ( and very encouraging. )

I’m back tomorrow at 9am and now I roughly know what I’m doing it should be fun.

I found a photo from today in 2021 when I was also painting a mural, but as part of a group and instead of being cosy inside, we were freezing outside and in danger of being blown over….that was when it wasn’t raining. It was fun despite everything.

That’s me at the back.

Wine time now.

Cheers 🍷🍷
