2026 in Verona…painting in the apartment….

Today I went shopping first and then decided that I’d  stay at home and paint for most of the day.

It was a good decision. As I sat at my little table painting portraits I felt so happy that here I was in an apartment in Verona painting. My teenage self who thought that going to Verona for a long stay would  never happen to me,  would be so very impressed.

I enjoyed painting two portraits from the two paintings in the hall. I have a plan for them.

My art corner.
Ready to start with black gessoed handmade paper.
Drawn with neocolours
This is the bit I particularly enjoy.
Nearly finished . Used gouache and a brush to paint the detail.
Done.

And repeat after lunch…

The nice thing is that I can’t copy exactly the portrait as I’m using a different medium.

I don’t know which one I like best.

Tonight I went for a walk to find something to deal with my rather pongy shoes. It would only get worse as it gets hotter.

Down by the arena.
I forget the name of these arches
Porta Borsari with cellist.

Someone is having a party outside in the street.

View from my window. Someone obviously  thought that if they played really loud bassy music then no one would need to speak to each other and then they could just eat the lovely food and drink.

At least it shouldn’t  be happening every night I hope.

I have noise cancelling  headphones. And if necessary I’ll  turn on the AC.

Anyways I can hardly hear it in the kitchen.

I nearly bought a lightweight top tonight, but decided to wait until tomorrow  and if I still thought it was a good idea I’d get it.  Feel very sensible.

I hadn’t expected such high temperatures.

My last week here starts tomorrow. I’m  trying to think if there’s anything I haven’t  done that matters.

In the meantime it’s wine time again.

Cheers🍷🍷
