I’m so used to only painting subjects which will sell, that I find it hard to chose things that I would like to paint, but probably nobody else might like.
However as a compromise I found some photos of elderly Italian women on Unsplash.( a free photo site)
I wanted to carry on using my neocolours so that they would look more sketchy .
I had so much fun with this one.

After lunch I chose another one. It was black and white and to be honest I thought it looked quite difficult so I just had to try to see if I could paint it.

When I paint commissioned portraits I work hard to get an almost photographic likeness. (It’s not nearly so much fun.)
It was another lovely cool morning so I decided that I’d go for a walk up by the castle.
However, there was a painter working on a neighbour’s house and without really thinking I asked how much it would cost to paint my house.
I was so excited about getting my house painted next weekend that I was in the piazza san rocco before I realised that I’d forgotten to go up by the castle.
I took another route home as I didn’t buy any frozen food from the supermarket.

It’s been an enjoyable Saturday. I have another four photos I can paint and then I have to start a portrait commission.
Am still liking Maigret.
Cheers 🍷🍷
