2021 in Pisticci…. freedom with masks

It was quite exciting to go out today to meet a friend for coffee now that it is possible again. All the bars have seats outside. There were lots of people about and lots of talking and meeting up. It felt like normal life with masks.

I almost don’t see the masks any more. I imagine we will be wearing them for most of this year. Hopefully not for ever. Now that it’s not so damp my glasses are not steaming up. ( now my problem is lipstick smudging….but I can live with that. )

It was great to get a little bit dressed up after months and months of wearing the same few outfits as the only place I ever went was shopping with a big rucksack.

Today I wore a velvet jacket and ” designer ” jeans ( the man with the suitcase said they were, when I bought them 10 years ago in Taranto🤔.) And I wore one of my new €2 tops.

It felt good to be out in the sunshine and looking cool. ( in my opinion. )

That has always been one of the things I like about living here. If I want to dress up its okay. Everybody does it.

I have virtually finished the four person portrait with the seven hands. I really , really , really want to paint something else now. Something for myself.

Tomorrow is my deadline. I could go on changing things for ever. I need to stop.

So now it’s wine time and by tomorrow afternoon I should be celebrating the end of the portrait.

And the possibility of some new paintings full of sunshine.

Cheers 🍷🍷

My favourite mask.
This morning about 6am.
