What a lot of fun I’ve had today. When I looked for a better photo of the image I was to paint for my next commission I discovered that it was Van Gogh’s Almond Blossom painting that I would be using as reference.
I like Van Gogh and most of the Impressionists…. I have already painted a copy of another one as a commission.
I started by painting the background and sponging it to give it a bit more interest. By then it was nearly lunchtime and I found a video on YouTube on how to paint a copy of this very painting in acrylics. I couldn’t not watch it. I skipped a few bits, but it was quite helpful. I wouldn’t have thought to use a pastel pencil to draw the branches.
After drawing the branches it was fun to carry on using lots of colours and Now I am nearly finished. I will check tomorrow for any obvious things I don’t like.
What a treat to paint something energetic, colourful and not exactly like the photo .
I was so energised that I even went for a small walk up the pink brick road and took some photos. I tried sitting on the kerb to see if it was comfortable enough to use if I painted the view from there. Probably I should take a cushion.
And now despite a shaky start to the day I feel very pleased with myself.
Cheers 🍷🍷
