I don’t know who organised it , but I just turned up with a couple of local artists and was given a big panel to paint on.

There were about 8 of us and it was a bit of an honour to be part of the group as Potenza is the biggest city in Basilicata. ( unless you count Matera , 60,000 people ) then it is the only city .
We completed the paintings in one day. They were all completely different subjects. As I was not used to painting outdoors with others and it was quite a big space to fill I decided that a painting of Pisticci would represent my style and if it just happened to be my house that I painted then that would be even better.
I remember enjoying the experience very much. The finished painting was fine. Another day and I could have improved it, but it was good enough.
Today, 5 years later I spent the day painting a vase of flowers for a friend and then more or less finishing a small triple portrait. The first of 3 due to be finished this week.
Aaargh…. by Thursday. I thought I had until Friday. ( just checked diary)
Back to bench painting tomorrow morning unless it rains.( If it rains I will have more portrait painting time ..not that I am wishing for rain …much! )
I think it’s the feste of the latest saint I painted tonight. I could go and see what is happening , but more likely I won’t. There was a midnight procession with candles one year. Not sure what can be done this time. No way am I going out at midnight. Got to work tomorrow.
So wine time now. Cheers 🍷🍷
