2023 in Pisticci…..buying wood and inventing a new tool …….

After a misty start it turned into a lovely morning here and by just after 8am I was on my way to the ferramenta ( hardware shop). I decided that it would be a good idea to get more wood for stretchers and I was in the mood for a walk. I haven’t been uptown as early for a while . It was interesting to see different people out and about .

Lovely morning

I was lucky that there was quite a lot of my favourite size of wood. So after testing the weight I bought 6 pieces, two and a half metres long.

I always return through the back streets as I feel a bit dangerous carrying something so long. I try very hard not to get distracted and swipe a car or an electric cable or worse still a person.

But it’s very satisfying to be able to transport wood by myself. Now I can make quite a few big canvases which would cost a lot if I was to buy them ready made.

Back home before 9am.

One of my next projects is to paint an angel and some children for a competition. I’ve completed the drawing and sprayed it with hairspray. I couldn’t understand why the house was smelling so nice until I remembered that.

Then quite by accident I invented a tool to paint the top of the outside of my house.

The idea came to me as I was thinking about something else entirely.

So I’ve taped a paintbrush to the end of quite a sturdy extending white plastic curtain pole. I went outside and tested it . It reaches the top. Hurray!!

I’m not going to paint over the roses.

Now I need to go back to the ferramenta and buy white paint tomorrow. I’m planning to do a little bit at a time as I need to plaster some bits of wall lower down.

It’s been lovely having the door open all day. Although it has become very cloudy it hasn’t actually rained today.

The strange plant looks about ready to bloom.

I’m going out later to the pizzeria so hopefully it’ll continue to stay dry.

But now I’m having a small glass of wine before I think about getting ready to go out.

Cheers🍷🍷
