2024 in Perth….I think I saw a heron….

I think it’s a heron.

I was walking down beside the lade. ( a rather scruffy little channel of water which was apparently built in the 11th century and is about four and a half miles long. It used to power  something at the city mills and other places.)

I was just past the gym and heading into town when I saw it.

Last time in Perth I saw an otter there.

I was very impressed.

Today apart from heron spotting,  I bought some watercolours.

I like that there is lots of room to mix colours.

When I got home I thought I’d test them out on my newly gessoed  sketch pad.

However I got distracted trying to tidy up the page which ripped a bit when I had shut it while still wet. I like my water soluble wax crayons a lot. I used some new acrylic paint markers as well and just made things up as I went along.

I think I’ve forgotten how to paint poppies, but it was fun experimenting and the colours haven’t come through onto the next page.

Tomorrow  I’m planning a day at home before I get sociable again.

But, I won’t be alone.

Now it’s well past wine time…..
