2026 in Verona…quiet Sunday…..

The forecast was for rain today, but when it was still dry at 10am I decided to go out for a coffee.

Naturally as soon as I was half way along the street it began to rain. And my special bar was crowded so I didn’t go in.

I found another bar in a nearby back street with only one person in it. Bravely ( for me ) I marched in. It’s  possible that the barista had got out of bed on the wrong side that morning. Who knows.

Being a person who sells things and did markets for years I can understand why a single person wanting a cappuccino is not as welcome as a group of four wanting  breakfast, orange juice and coffee. Sigh!!!

Sometimes I feel like apologising…….

Anyways , back home in my flowery apartment I thought that I’d do a quick flower painting. It would have been nice to work from life, but it was just too awkward.

There are flowers everywhere.
Quite an impressive  wardrobe.
The hall
Above the other bedroom door.
And a flower painting in my bedroom
Not bad for 20 minutes  using only neocolour crayons.

After lunch, and successfully making the microwave work again, I fiddled about with the scene I’ve been working on until I thought it was as finished as possible.

Am reasonably pleased with this. On the plus side I have lots of things to learn …..which keeps me from getting bored.

The plan for tonight was to do a passegiata in Via Mazzini. I popped into a book shop on the way..

Then headed home quite soon afterwards as it looked like rain.

Near the Arena. Looks like rain.
Lots of people having aperitivo.
Through the arch on my way home.
A pretty corner
Interesting gate.
Home.

I found a scene I might paint next, on my way for coffee this morning.

I like the colours and the bike.

I tried watching salvage hunters in Italian on TV earlier in the hope that I could improve my Italian, but it’s so fast.

Wine time now.

Cheers 🍷🍷
