I brought them through into my living room. I thought maybe laying them all out on the table would inspire me. They are supposed to be my Easter project. All made from offcuts of wood and canvas. None of them are regular sizes. If I want to make them more commercial I need to paint the sides as well.
The biggest one feels nice. I used left over thicker wood and it is substantial and strong when I pick it up. The others are all lightweight.
I ‘ve thought of flowers, fruit, self portraits, horizontal landscapes, vertical buildings and even a copy of the mural I’m painting. And nothing inspires me so far.
I don’t know whether I want to paint for myself ( the canvases feel like freebies so no pressure to get my money back on them. ) Or whether , as often happens I just paint to sell.
Today I’ve successfully avoided making a decision.
I thought that going out would maybe help. I was drawn to the chinese shop for inspiration. I bought a cake tin and was motivated to make a chocolate and banana cake using the last bar of chocolate from Canada. It was 88% and I find that a bit too strong , but it was perfect in a cake. I was lucky that the cake turned out as well as it did as I guessed how much of everything I needed. ( 3 bananas, 1 bar of 88% chocolate, not quite 2 cups of wholemeal flour, 4 heaped teaspoons of sugar, 2 eggs and a lump of marge. Whisked chopped bananas, eggs and sugar till tasted nice, melted chocolate and marge in microwave, poured into bowl , added flour and mixed….went everywhere so used spoon and then mixer. Poured into round greaseproof papered tin, cooked at 170 degrees for about half an hour till it felt cooked.)
It’s now cut up and in the freezer….most of it. I’ll take it out and microwave it when I need it.
I haven’t done much else today unless I count reading. It looks like there might be rain tonight.
I made an effort to dress up a bit this morning and found a black velvet jacket and a black belt with a big decorative clasp. Wore it with my stripey dungarees….and my sentimental trainers ,on which I was obliged to dab black paint to hide spots of white paint. I wonder if they will fall apart before sandal season arrives.
Maybe I should paint my trainers. They are special and have been with me more than 3 years now. I don’t even like them all that much. They are very boring. Just grey to go with everything and don’t make my feet look too big.
Am wittering now. Its time for more Scandinavian crime and carrot chips. This morning I thought my faced looked a little orange, but am sure I was imagining it …
Cheers 🍷🍷
