My last 3 portraits have all been liked and that makes me feel really good.

Portrait painting is a bit special when it goes well. There are not a lot of nicer things than having people come in to my studio and smile at their portraits.

I’ve known for some time that it’s not the money that matters ( except to pay bills) it’s the look on someone’s face when I’ve got it right. What an honour and privilege with a little bit of magic thrown in.

Practically speaking these last 3 portraits weren’t rushed. I mostly finished them in 2 or 3 days , but then I gave myself time to look at them again and again and adjust them over the next 4 days . I had time to make a good job.

Am enjoying reading Patti Smith’s “Just Kids.” I’ve been taking my time as it feels like a feast and I don’t want to rush it.

Today I’ve chosen quite a few recent photos to make good ink and watercolour paintings and they are now sent to my tablet. There is probably an easier way to transfer them ,but email works.

I took some more this afternoon.

What a very pleasant Sunday it’s been.

Now it’s wine time and ” nickipositano” followed by some Frost ……
