2022 in Pisticci ..another day , another portrait. ..

My plan today was to paint the head in my next portrait commission.

However as I was getting up this morning it occurred to me that for my second short story this week I could use a dream I had about 25 years ago that had a very big impact on my life. I thought it might help with my lack of imagination .

I’m not sure if it worked or not , but I spent an interesting two hours this morning writing a story called ” Muesli and Weevils”.

It involved me checking on google to see if it’s possible to make an alcoholic drink from muesli. It is. People have done it.

I had the dream during the time I was learning to be a counsellor and although dreams weren’t part of the course I was curious and had taken to writing down any I remembered.

I actually used it as the basis of an essay I wrote. ( I passed.)

So my portrait painting didn’t start until after lunch and unfortunately I wasn’t very enthusiastic. It is possible to paint things while not feeling all that bothered , but not very well I find.

Tomorrow my plan is to begin in the morning when I think I am more alert and interested.

It’s been cold and windy again today. I had to brush a lot of grit out which had blown in under the door.

It’s still really cold
Looking forward to being warm again.

Tonight I think is the night of Saint Appollonia which is when around 400 years ago some of the upper part of Pisticci fell down. Dirupo , where I live was built on top of the rubble from the fallen buildings.

Dirupo is the area spreading down under the arched wall.

Wine time now. Last night I found some episodes of Hamish Macbeth on youtube. Hoping there are more.

Cheers 🍷🍷
